UNLOCKED
First Solo Exhibition at TANK Artshop, Aarhus, DK
21st - 28th October 2016
"William Eckloff has for many years expressed himself artistically, but has not shown his art to anyone. A serious accident injured William’s drawing hand and for a long time he could not draw manually - and doubted whether he could ever create art again.
Fortunately he can now! And the accident ended up being a catalyst for new inspiration and a newfound desire - for the first time - to share his art with the world.
The focal point of William Eckloff’s first solo exhibition at TANK is keys. Keys as a motif are based on a life of many moves and experiences about feeling at home (William is half English, half-German - and grew up in Denmark and New Zealand). However, the exhibition's title 'UNLOCKED' reveals that the works are also about opening up, identifying the key as they are and daring to show his art forward.
William Eckloff is an architect, colourblind and works artistically in a solid, monochrome, detailed and controlled style that, despite its simplicity, is very personal. The works that are now presented in TANK are original drawings and prints, in which William at once examines the key’s form, its symbolism and connotations." - Jane Bang Nørgaard, Owner of TANK Artshop.
